No, the 2017-2019 Village of Orland Park vehicle sticker salutes law enforcement. Orland Park’s new sticker shows a black and white American flag with a thin blue line. The blue stripe in the middle shows support for police officers. The top of the sticker reads, “Orland Park Supports Police.”
The Village of Orland Park has a history of recognizing the contribution made by a variety of groups and organizations in our community, by portraying a reference to them on our village vehicle sticker.
Those receiving acknowledgment and appreciation have included the Orland Park Lions Club and a tribute to Vietnam War Veterans on the 50th Anniversary of the end of that conflict.
Recently, numerous requests had been made by residents regarding how we might honor our Police Department for their dedication and work. FBI crime statistics recently rated Orland Park as one of the safest communities to live in Illinois and many residents suggested that the village might acknowledge that work by distributing blue lights – to be displayed outside the home – or perhaps blue ribbons for front yard trees or something that would allow them to show their appreciation for the service our police provide.
This year’s sticker design was meant only to allow the village an opportunity to express their appreciation for the effort and commitment of Orland Park’s law enforcement professionals.
They do so very much for our community and too often do not receive the recognition for that dedication and work.
